By man six, I already had a bad case of the Groundhogs. I tried jumping in with interesting conversation starters and did share a love of dogs with one man and dreams about retirement travel with another, but they were just not my kind of men, physically or otherwise. When I got to the tenth man and he asked how I was enjoying the evening, I confessed I was looking forward to going home. The experience reminded me of a literary speed-dating event I attended about five years ago. Placed opposite each other at long tables, we had the opportunity to get to know ten members of the opposite sex in fifty minutes. It was a flyer for slow -dating.

Organisers for the Alpine Rally of East Gippsland have confirmed a date for the next year centenary event with the biannual rally to take place in December As one of the oldest surviving motorsport events around the world, the Victorian based rally has a rich history dating back to the inaugural running in where it was known as the Alpine mile Trial and featured 28 starters. Since its first event all those years ago, the Alpine Rally has substantially grown and now attracts fields of more than cars from around the country, with all participants sharing the common goal of finishing the challenging event. When the Alpine Rally of East Gippsland runs next year, it will mark years since it first took place in Australia, and while it has seen multiple changes over the course of its journey, as well as a change of organisers, it still stays true to its earlier foundations.
