Many cities, quite legitimately, have more than one Pride Event annually due to specific demographics and various elements, which is totally valid. The two main Pride Events held in Glasgow represent the same basic demographic and audience. Bringing the two under one all-encompassing umbrella, can only be to the significant benefit to the people of Glasgow, so long as they agree, and the various management teams agree to work together under one new banner. We must acknowledge the significant input and work undertaken by the various organisations.

Since , volunteers have organised a Pride March and a community-based festival in June, alternating between the cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow. A new organisation, AL D ltd was founded in to continue the tradition of the annual march and festival. This organisation changed its name to Pride Scotia Edinburgh in and a separate organisation Pride Scotia Glasgow was created with the two organisations organising Pride Scotia in their respective cities in alternate years thereafter. In , the Glasgow arm of the organisation announced it was splitting completely, and has since used the name Pride Glasgow. The precursor event to Pride Scotia was called Lark in the Park. Police estimated that around people attended. The first Pride Festival on the Meadows began as the procession arrived, and had a stage and surrounding stalls.
Pride Glasgow and Mardi Gla have insisted there will two parades in the Scottish city. However, Mardi Gla — a grass-roots rival — is organizing another march in Glasgow on 20 July. Permission to hold a Pride Glasgow event was withdrawn by the council after organizers failed to repay debts.
